TENANT COMMITTEES

Tenant Committees are the cornerstone of the SRO Hub program, a community organizing project that supports tenants living in privately-owned SRO buildings in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Tenants engage in peer support initiatives to improve the habitability and affordability of their buildings, and increase the health, sense of safety, and sense of belonging of themselves and their neighbours. Ultimately, the program aims to prevent evictions and homelessness by fostering more community ownership of these buildings. With tenant committees as the organizing structure, the SRO-C supports tenants to iterate systems of governance and decision-making for those initiatives and for their hotels.
